Team History

Jordan debuted into Formula 1 at Phoenix in 1991. Winning their first points at the Canadian grand prix and ending the debut season with a commendable 13 points. The second season was poor with team unable to capitalise on their previous success gaining a single point all season.

1993 saw the beginning of a new partnership with Hart to supply engines. Eddie Irvine and Rubens Barrichello also joined the team. The first season yielded only 3 points. However as the team began to gel 1994 saw Jordan enjoy its first pole and podium and finish up with 28 points. 1995 saw the team continue in the same form gaining 21 points and enjoy success at the Montreal GP with both Barrichello and Irvine gaining a podium place. The good form continued in 1996 with an end of season total of 22 points.

Giancarlo Fisichella and Ralf Schumacher joined Jordan in 1997. There was immediate success with the new drivers acquiring 3 podiums that season and 33 points. In 1998 Jordan joined forces with Mugen-Honda. It was a great season with Damon Hill registering Jordan's first win at Spa. The team enjoyed another 2 podiums that season and the combined effort of Schumacher and Hill yielded 34 points and a 4th position in the Constructor's title.

1999 saw Jordan step up and seriously challenge for the Driver's Title. Heinz Harald Frentzen had an amazing season notching up 2 wins. The team enjoyed 6 podiums in all, 61 points and 3rd in the Constructor's title.

However since then Jordan have struggled to build on this success. In 2001 Jordan formed a partnership with Honda that yielded only poor to average performances and Jordan's impact on F1 dipped. In fact in 2002 the team gained 9 points in all. 2003 saw Jordan form a deal with Ford but the engine was unable to elevate the team's performance with Jordan finishing up with 13 points and 9th position.
