Career Highlights
Baumgartner karting career includes the two times runner
up of the Hungarian Go-Kart International series. In 1997 he entered
the Formula Renault German Championship and again took the runners-up
position overall. 1999 saw him win the Formula Renault German Championship
in a dominating series that included 2 wins.
Thereafter Baumgartner moved into F3 racing. In 2000 he gained
7th position in German Formula 3 overall, and bettered this to 6th
place in 2001. He also competed in his first FIA F3000 International
in 2001 and took 12th place and then 7th place in 2002.
In 2003 Baumgartner became a test driver for Jordan and made his
F1 debut in that season in the Hungaroring Grand Prix.
However it was in 2004 that Baumgartner made his first full F1
season debut with the Minardi
Team.
