Career Highlights
Like many F1 racing drivers Rubens Barrichello started
out in karting where he enjoyed a great deal of success and acquired
a number of Brazilian Karting Titles. He then progressed his career
to racing cars in Europe and took the GM Lotus EuroSeries in 1990.
Barrichello made his Formula 1 debut in 1993 with Jordan. The highlight
with this team undoubtedly being the Pole Position enjoyed at Spa
in 1994. In 1997 Rubens moved to the Stewart Grand Prix Team where
he again to a pole, this time in France.
The most defining moment of Rubens career was in 2000 when he signed
with the Ferrari team. He achieved his first career win in Germany
in that season. The success with Ferrari
continued and in 2002 he notched up 4 wins, and another 2 wins in
the 2003 season.
Rubens has now extended his contract with Ferrari
until 2006. Although his patience will be tested as he sits
in the shadow of Ferrari teammate Michael Schumacher.
