Career Highlights
Mark Webber established a strong karting record in Australia and
in 1994 progressed to Australian Formula Ford in which he enjoyed
a number of victories. He then started racing in Europe and in 1996
won the Ford Formula Festival and took 2nd place in the British
Formula Ford Championship. Webber then progressed to F3 and took
5 podiums in 1997.
Mark then turned his attention to F3000 series finishing 3rd in
2000 and the 2nd in 2001. He had also started as the Benetton test
driver, but eventually managed to gain a contract with the Minardi
F1 team. He made his F1 debut in Australia 2002 and came in at 5th
place in that debut race.
These solid performances earned interest from Jaguar
to whom Mark signed in 2003.
